P0101 Nissan Code - Mass Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance

2011 Nissan maxima... Check engine light came on. Motor was running fine. Deleted code fine since then.

I HAVE A 2011 MAXIMA.P0101 CODE KEEPS RETURNING, CHANGED OUT MAF SENSOR CAR RAN FINE FOR 1 WEEK. SERVICE ENGINGE LIGHT HAS RETURNED WITH THE SAME CODE. COULD THIS BE A FAULTY PART OR SHOULD I LOOK DEEPER INTO THE MATTER. CAR HAS BEEEN CHECKED OUT BY LOCAL SHOP......

I have a 2011 Nissan juke and I got a service engine light and the codes were p0101 which i know is maf. But i also got the code p0101pd. Can't find anything on that code with the pd on the end of it. I changed the air filter and cleared the code bit after a couple days the light come back on with the same codes. Car rums fine only have a little over 28k on it. Any suggestions?

Beside the MAF sensor I haven't seen any other component that could trigger the P0101 code. Did you use a new factory MAF Sensor?

Never seen that code either and there is no information in the factory service manual for that code. It's possible that the problem its the scanner.

I'm being told that my dirty throttle plate is triggering the p0101 code on my car. Is this possible?

No. The code means that there is a problem with the MAF circuit or the sensor it self. Dir on the MAF sensor could cause the code, but no dirt on the throttle body.

How do you reset the maf sensor on a 2011 Nissan Cube??

There is no reset for the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. If there is a problem with the sensor, you have to replace the sensor and then clear the code.
If you already replaced the sensor and you just want to reset the light, you can use an OBDII scanner or disconnect the car battery for about 30 minutes to reset the light.

Thank you! That's what I really needed to know was how to get the service engine soon light to go off. Not gonna replace the sensor, gonna try cleaning it first. You think that might help before I spend alot on replacing it?

There is a factory service bulletin that recommends reprogramming the Engine Control Module (ECM) for that problem. You should have your local dealer reprogramming the ECM for you.

I have Nissan Altima 2011 and SES light popuped and scanner in Auto Zone recommended me for a reprograming of Engine Control Module. Does this covers under warranty? right now am in 77K miles.

Never play replace the senors without knowing if they are indeed defective, something as small as moving the connector wires, checking for a filter cap that isn't on correctly, cleaning it, after you have exhausted all options then you might change the sensor.

2011 nissan altima 2.5 s p0101 came on cleared the code changed the sensor and about 40 miles driving came back in same code. What could be the problem.

Are there any driveability problems? If is just the code, then there is a factory service bulletin that suggest reprogramming the Engine Control Module (ECM) for that code.

No problem at all just light keeps bugging me and gas milage went down a lil. Hopefully that's all it needs.

2001 chevy blazer replaced lower intake and then after all of it got done the transmission jumps to 3-4 gear code up for maf sensor and 1-2 gear solenoid and Boggs out at 2500 rpm drops to 1500 rpm and sticks there take about 5 min for it to pick up speed to 35mph I have no idea what to look at. I'm completely stuck took it to the dealer and they said the same thing they can't find the problem.

Yes. Start by checking the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and air filter. Replace filter if necessary and clean MAF if possible. Did the engine started after stall?

Yes it started but took about 10 min

Hello, I have a 2011 altima with service engine light on took it to the shop had it the MAF sensor, ECM and the throttle body unit clean and the service engine was gone but 2 weeks later for peace of mind i had it checked and it still reads P0101 but the SES is not on. does anyone have an idea what could it be? car runs perfectly even on idle.

If the P0101 code was not fixed by cleaning the MAF sensor, then you have to replace the sensor to fix the problem. Other than the sensor, I have not seen any other component or problems that could trigger the P0101 code.

had the service engine soon light come on so I first checked the battery and alternator. At first it looked great but then I turned the engine off and restarted it and the charging volts went from 14.3 from the first test to 13.1 on the second try. Did it again and it went back to 14.3 . did it over and over and every other start it changed back to 13.1 or 14.3. Can the decoupler pulley be bad and causing this and can that change in voltage cause the maf code to set ?

I have a 2014 Armada, and it started idling rough at stop lights, this was an intermittent issue. Then very soon after the check engine light came on. Went to see what the code was and they found three. PO101, 174 and 300. Any ideas?

Start by checking for intake leaks. Also check of debris blocking the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. If possible remove and clean the MAF and replace the air filter.

Could be possible, but as far as I know, it's not likely to happen. Are you able to clear the code? I recommend to just clean the MAF, air filter and clear the code.

Was able to clear code and car runs fine so far, but what could cause the voltage to flip up and down every time you start the car?Volt Meter is brand new .Battery and filter is less than one year. Ever see a change in voltage up and down every other start? And the same amount 13.1 to 14.3 ?Battery shows 12.4 engine off.

Battery showing 12.4 with the engine off is normal.

Most manuals only say that it is normal if the voltage at the battery with the engine running is from 13-14.5. There are a few things that could cause the voltage to charge, e.g. battery temperature, battery charge, electrical loads, engine speed, etc. So as long is within that range, you shouldn't worry about it.

Hi i have a 2012 Nissan Altima sedan, 2.5, for months, when stopped and then go it takes at least 5 seconds to start moving, then the engine light came on, my mechanic said it was a p101 code and was the maf sensor, he put it in, 3 days later driving bad again a light on, he put a new maf sensor on and air filter, a week later driving the same and light on, he doesn't think 2 sensors could be bad, anyone with and help, i really appreciate it, the dealer said the ecm might need updating, if it does would it still be running poorly, if you have any information to help please reply or email me at [email protected], i tryed calling nissan customer service and they are like what do u want us to do, any help means a lot, thanks si much

I have never seen a bad MAF causing that type of problem. Usually bad MAF cause hesitation, hard to start, stall, but not what you describe.

Sounds like the delay could be caused by the transmission. Start by checking the transmission fluid level and condition. When was the last time you change the fluid?

If the transmission fluid it's OK, then try to get someone else check the codes for you. You may have more codes that could help you diagnose the problem.

Thank you so much, im lost, im bringing it into the dealership tomorrow, they said the ecm computer needs updated, i was reading that works to keep the engine light out but i told him on the phone and tell him tomorrow that it's running really bad, its dangerous to drive, when the light turns green it takes 5 seconds to move, people beep at me all the time, they said the update is 108, but if its not that, its a 115 dollars to use the scan tool thats only going to say p101, the guy at Nissan head quarters said to me why did u have ur mechanic fix it and not the dealer, i said its real easy, im on disability, im a veteran and only get enough money to get by each month, my mechanic is 75 a hour for labor, Nissan is 115 a hour, im scared to death what they are going to try charging me tomorrow, i got it last may with 45,000 miles, it now has 60,000, i baby it, put the best oil in it and its in mint condition, this has me really down and if they want a crazy about to fix it im going to trade it in, and never another Nissan in my life, i loved the older ones, i wish i did my researching on it before buying it, i cant stand the cvt transmission too, i dont know what to expect tomorrow, i want to thank you again for the great information, it truly means a lot,

You should check the transmission fluid anyways before going to the dealer, low fluid could cause a delay. I hope is something easy and inexpensive.

Have you reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM)? There is a factory service bulletin for that problem and the factory recommends reprogram the ECM to fix the problem. See "Tech Notes" above.

I have a 2011 Nissan altima, check engine light is on I did the scan I change the air flow sensor and two weeks later once again its reading the same code p0101, when I'm driving now the slip light turn on does this have to do anything with the same code? I have to pull over and turn off the car then start it back up and it goes back to normal.

Did you use a new OEM Air Flow Sensor?

Other than the sensor it self, I haven't seen anything else triggering the P0101 code, unless your car was on an accident or had a body repair, then the wires could be damage.

Did you check the air filter and air filter housing for debris?

when I had my sensor replace it was a New sensor unless they didn't place It NEW.

I also replace the air filter twice already and clean the sensor with mass air flow sensor cleaner. I'm about to have my car scan once again today Lets see what comes out.

I'm now having trouble with the slip indicator light, it comes up some times while driving and got to pull over and start the engine again. You think it has something to do with the same problem?

It's possible that the slip light is related. Check for codes again, and if there is a problem with the VDC system (the one that turns the slip light ON) then you'll get a code.

I have a 2012 Altima, the check engine light always pops up for p0101, the car drive completely fine... If you have the same problem as me and your as cheep as I am. I suggest buying obd reader and keep erasing the code. If you take it to Nissan and get them to reformat the ECM, I suggest telling them to set different parameters for the mass air flow sensor...

I own a 2011 Altima. Live in Ottawa Can. Had a P0101 when getting etest for sticker plate renewal. Went to the Dealership to get it looked at. When I received a call twenty minutes later about the estimate/work needed they informed me it was covered by warranty. That was yesterday Jan 29, 2018. Didn't think I still had warranty left. Did Nissan do this for everyone or just in my area?

The warranty on some areas is different than others. The warranty on areas with high emission restrictions is longer and cover more items. Here is California US, some items have 10 years or 100K miles of warranty.

My 2011 Nissa Cube has a check engine light. The P101 code keeps popping up. I replaced the MAF first with a refurbished unit, then with a brand new one, and finally with a brand new Nissan MAF. The check engine keeps coming up with the same code. This is in a span of 3 months. The check engine always pops up after 2 days or so after resetting the code.

Your next step is to have the dealer reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM). There is nothing else I have seen triggering the code.

Yes. A bad MAF will cause the engine to stall. Have you checked the air filter box for debris? have you replaced the air filter lately?

The MAF is brand new just put in 3 days ago. The filter was checked and is fine. I have tried different brands of MAF since November but the same code keeps popping up even after it's been reprogramed

i have a 2011 nissan frontier. the check engine light came on and engine has died out multiple times. However, this only happens when my AC is running. Code P0101. I have REPLACED the MAF sensor and my air filter. After the replacements and clearing the codes several times im still haveing the same symptoms. Not sure what else to do at this point.

Did you use a new factory MAF? if you did, then the next step I recommend is to reprogram the ECM, there is a bulletin for a similar problem.

I got the MAF from Oreillys.

A new from O'Reilly should work fine. Your next step is to reprogram the ECM.

I had to reprogram the ECM with the original MAF sensor. One from the parts store will not work. If you don't have the original you will probably have to get one from the dealership.

You must have the dealer or any shop with an OBDII scanner capable to reprogram ECMs, do the reprogram for you.

Depends on the year and mileage of your Nissan. What model and year is your vehicle, and how many miles?

I have 2014 Titan. Put a new MAF in and still runs rough.
Also shows multiple misfires. Anything I should chk? Diagnostic showed 1 dead cylinder. But someone told me that could a stepper motor.
