  • Hello my name is Larry Fisher of Hot Spring Ar my girlfriends 2010 Ford Edge limited edition front wheel drive 3.5 V6 Wont start initially we took it a Service shop that said it was the timing belt had a good friend and knowledgeable in auto mechanics tried to replace belt but had trouble removing a particular pulley but said belt , guides and adjusters looked Good so we felt confident that was Not the issue so I began checking fuses and we replaced a ignition coils, all spark plugs as the vehicle still wouldn't start we began looking into possible fuel issue replaced intire fuel pump assembly and I seperated fuel line at fuel Rail and verified pump was priming as I could here it as well so I purchased a OBD 2 code reader and code P 1633 came up Ford said was the Keep Alive circuit/ memory circuit Autozone suggested voltage regulator said if I could bring it in they could bench test it I am working to remove alternator and having some trouble removed passenger tire n wheel well housing ( ? ) but after fighting and trying to lower AC compressor still wouldn't allow removal Now I will work to remove it from top side which seems tasking and AC lines appear as could cause difficulties Any help would be Very much appreciated Thank U L.F.

  • Here are the instructions suggested by the factory service manual. You must remove the cooling fan to get enough space to remove the alternator. I hope it helps.

    1. Disconnect the battery

    2. Remove the cooling fan

    3. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counterclockwise and position the accessory drive belt aside.

    4. Position the generator B+ terminal protective cover aside, remove the nut and position the generator B+ terminal aside.
    - To install, tighten to 17 Nm (150 lb-in).

    5. Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
    - Detach the pin-type retainer and wiring harness.

    6. Remove the generator stud nut.
    - To install, tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).

    7. Remove the generator stud.
    - To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

    8. Remove the RH fender splash shield

    9. Loosen the generator bolt and remove the generator.
    - To install, tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).

    10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
