P0720 Ford Code - Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction

I have a 2001 Southwind Motorhome with a V10 engine. I recently got the P0720 code when the transmission falters on takeoff. I replaced the speed censor and the problem continues. Any suggestions?

What sensor did you replace? There are 2 sensor speed sensor. There is the speed sensor on the engine and one on the transmission. You need to replaced the sensor on the transmission, also called Output Speed Sensor.

I replaced the output speed sensor just about a year ago on my 2006 ford f350 super duty 4wheel drive . This week the engine started missing and then stalled just after turning on. the check engine light came on and the p0720 error code came up. I read that it could be the wiring harness what would cause this sensor failure?

I have a 04 f250 that keeps pylling a po720 code. I removed the wire harness and wire loom and inspected it and found no issues. I then replaced both sensors and the truck still continues to stall and pull the code. What else can I do to fix this issue?

I am throwing this code (od off flashing). When i press the break while in park the speedo reads 15-20 mph. The break petal also feels different. This problem has come and gone.

What model and year is your Ford?

1999 F250 Super Duty crew cab 4x4 7.3L. Drove around today with no problems. All problems come and go together. Can't figure out why this makes my break petal feel different along with the speedo problem. I would think these two system are independent of each other. Must be bad sensor or wiring problem. Truck runs fine otherwise.

I have a 2003 Ford mustang gt and these codes keeping coming - p0722 and p0720. Now I replaced the speed sensor and its still the same now when I'm going 25 the speedo is showing 75 idk what to do

Which sensor did you replace? Usually replacing the sensor fixes the problem.

Do you have a diagram on where I can find this sensor on a 2005 Ford Taurus?

VSS Or Speed Senor. Im getting code P0720 Car shifts 2, 3, 4 no problem. Its only happening at 1st gear and reverse.

The P0420 code is for the Output Speed Sensor. The sensor is on top of the transmission. The below image shows the sensor cover on yellow, remove the cover and sensor is under the cover.

If the sensor didn't fix the problem and there are no other symptoms, then you could have a problem with the wire harness from the control unit to the sensor

I have a 2013 FORD F-150 almost got me killed when travel at 70 mph and truck suddenly went from overdrive to 2nd gear and started wheel hopping and locked the back wheels and had to get to the shoulder to keep from getting killed. Finally a code came up P 0720 output speed sensor and took to the dealer I bought it from and they repaired customer pay for $987.00. I called Ford customer service and they knew of problem and said I was 3 months out from production date and opened a case. This has been over 2 months and still nothing from Ford.

I have a 2008 f150 P0720 output speed sensor code have inspected harness, replaced connector and sensor with no luck! Throws code as soon as you put it in gear and it starts misfiring at the same time. Any help is greatly appreciated it’s been to the dealer three times!
