Discuss the causes and fixes for P1716 2004 Infiniti G35 OBDII Code

I have this code on my 2004 G35. I seem to get 2 different answers. 1 refers me to a $35 part on the exterior of the transmission 2 refers me to replacing a control board inside the pan? Help?
-
The P1716 code is for the Turbine Sensor, but on your vehicle the Turbine Sensor is not serviceable and you have to replace the Transmission Valve Body to fix the problem.
-
Thank you. I figured so but was wishing for an easier option. Your expertise is greatly appreciated
-
If you have a 2004.5 the TCM is part of the Valve Body and if the 2004 the TCM is separate to the Valve Body.
If the problem is the P1716 code, then you just have to replace the Valve Body. -
The new valve body is around $1200 and the installation depends if is at the dealer or independent shop, but is around $500.

Some time since last post, hoping for a response. I have a 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe, purchased 9/2003. For Code P1716, would this mean the valve body would need replacement (TCM inside valve body??). With this Code, a mechanic only cleaned the TCM and harness connections, but after picking up my car Code P1716 returned (ck engine light, verified via diagnostic tool). Do not want to pay for more unnecessary work on this issue.

I have replaced the Valve Body many times and that fixed the problem, but the repair was more common a few years ago and with well-maintained transmissions. Since your G35 is 18 years old and I don't know the condition of the other parts of the transmission, I recommend a complete rebuild, valve body and transmission mechanical parts.
I can't remember the production date, but if your G35 last 6 starts with 800000 (e.g. JNKCV51E*4M800001), then is a 2004.5 and the TCM is inside the Valve Body.
