Have an 03 gmc serria 4.8. Starts and idels fine but I have no throttle response just replaced the throttle position sensor and the pedal and I still have have no throttle. I have had all those things checked and still haven't been able to find the issue.

After replacing the Throttle body, Throttle body PCM, and the pedal, it ended up being the ground wire for one of these.. The wire was black with a white stripe coming out of the wiring harness and bolted to the engine block (fire wall side) just on top of the tranny. You can not see this bolt. Put ignition on,(no need to start) find this wire and pull on it. You will here the fuel injectors kick on and off. Or just start car and pull on wire. car will stall. My mechanic could not find this problem. Wire was hanging on by probably 1 strand and would sometimes work.

Anybody got information on 03 suburban reduced engine speed, with the code 1518 showing? I've replaced the throttle body, have done the relearn process. Still getting the code, and the reduce engine speed. Seems to reduce if my acceleration is heavy, (which is the most common) or sometimes right after I start it up.

I had the same problem. When pushing the throttle the control systems would put my 2003 2500HD in "reduced engine power" mode. Code 1518 on the scan tool. The ground wire (black with white stripe) appeared to be in good shape but I replaced it anyway! I grounded to both the engine and the frame. Problem went away. Thanks Wayne!

2003 tahoe 5.3. Reduced engine power. Dont recall initial code but led me to throttle body. Before I could get it replaced truck went into reduced power mode. P1518 now. Replaced battery, throttle body and tac module. Now will not stay running long enough for relearn. Please help

For how long will the engine run?
Try the following steps:
1. Clear all codes
2. Perform a Throttle Learn.
3. Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.
4. With a scan tool, monitor desired and actual RPM.
5. The Electronic Control Module (ECM) will start to learn the new idle cells and Desired RPM should start to decrease.
6. Ignition OFF for 60 seconds.
7. Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.
8. After the 3 minute run time the engine should be idling normal. Important.
9. If the engine idle speed has not been learned the vehicle will need to be driven at speeds above 70 km/h (44 mph) with several decelerations and extended idles.
10. After the drive cycle, the engine should be idling normally.
11. If the engine idle speed has not been learned, turn OFF the ignition for 60 seconds and repeat step 6.
12. Once the engine speed has returned to normal, clear DTCs. -
I've cleared codes. Truck wont stay running long enough to perform relearn. Still getting p1518 and a p1516 one time. Also truck wont even attempt to start first few tries afterward. One it does start It starts in reduced power mode and may only run for 10 seconds or so before shutting off.
