Replaced pedal, Throttle body, pigtail for throttle body, Throttle control module and checked the entire harness. I then replaced the alternator which worked for a day so I then felt that the problem had to do with the charging system. It all checked out OK. as the battery was now older than 4 years old, I swapped this out. This then fixed the problem. The code said it was PO1516 which pointed to a position read back from the throttle body that did not match the position reported by the pedal. The grounds G103 was also poor which added to the initial problem and caused the PCM to fail and sometimes not allow the engine to start. The codes returned by the vehicle were very misleading. Check all grounds first and then go after the charging system to ensure that it is at the right level. This problem will lead you in circles if you dont troubleshoot it methodcially. GM has done a ppor job with this circuit.
