I have a p1258 gmc code ..through various forums and sites I have gathered that when this code engages protection mode it has authority to shut down injectors to lower the chance of a critical overheat ..understanding that it can do this would that also throw two p0332 codes for a bank two knock sensor and one p0300 misfire detection..i feel like the answer is pretty obvious but I wanna know for sure

so i changed out my ECT after i got the P1258 code on my 2005 Pontiac Montanan SV6. drove 160 miles and it popped up again. so i changed out the fuse for the ECT changed the water pump, and the thermostat.
and still can't keep this code from popping up now mind you i'm not only hurting my wallet in parts but in coolant too. so i must be missing something. and i can figure it out someone please enlighten me -
I haven't had that problem, but I check a national database of repairs for your model year (BTW you probably have a 2006), and other than the parts you have already replaced, the only other thing I found that could trigger the P1258 code is the radiator. Poor radiator coolant flow could cause the engine overheat and set the code. Also, I found that in a couple of instances the problem was the head gasket.
I recommend starting with a leak-down test to check the head gasket; if you have no problem with the head gasket, then you may have to clean or replace the radiator.
