  • I live in Great Britian. I have a 2003 Focus. It is a 1.8L TDI Diesel engine.

    I had to replace the alternator and water pump 4 years ago. The water pump was leaking and damaged the alternator. Since then the glow plugs error light comes on occasionally when accelerating from first gear and even when driving a uniform speed. It usually is worse in wet weather. It has been slowly getting worse until now it can fault several times in a row, or once a day. To reset it we turn the car off and restart it.

    I have had the Charging and battery system load tested recently and the mechanic Gave me the listing of error codes which he said does indicate not a faulty alternator but a circuit grounding issue or alternator connector corrosion issue.

    The error codes are P1246, P1632, and B1254.

    Please let me know how best to fix this.
