  • My 2004 Yaris diesel occasionally shows a P1121 fault and the engine goes into limp mode. When the fault is cleared with a fault reader, the problem disappears. I replaced the accelerator pedal unit, as the fault code suggested I should, but this made no difference. I called out the AA once and was told that, because the fault disappeared when the error code was cleared, the problem was probably a software issue. It doesn't happen too often, so I just carry a fault reader/clearer in the car to clear the fault, rather than pay Toyota an arm and a leg to sort it out.
