P0AC4 Chevrolet Code - Hybrid Powertrain Control Module Requested MIL Illumination

Autozone pulled P0AC4. I brought it in because the Hybrid Tahoe dies occasionally while stopped at a red light. It never dies while moving. I have not changed any parts. Should the Powertrain Control Module be replaced?

Are there any other codes? The P0AC4 code only means that there could be a problem with the "Hybrid Control Module", but it doesn't say exactly what the problem is. You have to check all the system for codes. What model and year is your Chevy?

my literally just purchased my 2008 chevy tahoe hybrid. im receiving the codes p0300,p0ac4,c0301. its riding very rough and on the verge of stalling? what do i do?

Take it back where you purchase the vehicle. The code that probably causing the rough idle is the P0300, unfortunately there are many things that could cause the codes and what ever it is, is probably expensive.

I am having the same problem- I have a 2008 Yukon GMC Hybrid - My also occasionally dies at a red light- My only one code P0AC4 ....should I replaced the "Hybrid control Module" ? or how can I see if there is any other issue that is causing this type of code ???

Unfortunately I haven't seen that problem, and there are no bulletins or recalls for the codes either. I checked around and it looks that the Hybrid Control Module could t=be the cause of the problem. Have you tried clearing the code?

I've been dealing with the random stalling at stop lights issue for over a year now. Dealer says i need to replace the hybrid battery. Given that i don't have that kind of cash laying around and i doubted the confidence when the adviser told be how they came to that conclusion...without actually testing voltage or amps under load, I took it to a third party hybrid shop here in town and paid for a load reading and it came back at 95% battery life. They did find codes that only a Chevy mechanic can read. Oh and when i took it into the dealership the check engine light was on and the first thing they did was clear it out and try to recreate the codes. After i explicitly told them the the problem was intermittent. So that code that only a Chevy mechanic can read was wiped out and they defaulted to this flow cart of symptoms and came up with "replace the battery". I don't meant to vent here but i hope none of you guys get caught in that mess. I couldn't find any threads on this issue either. But it seems to be common on the tahoe/yukon hybrids. To get around it i keep it in manual gear (M) while on surface streets and in drive (D) on freeways. I really hope there is more info out there. I can replace most parts as I've already had to replace 2 stuck lifters. I hope there is simply fix to this and i really, really, really, don't want to go back to the dealership.

My 2008 chevy tahoe is sitting at 129k and I'm getting so many codes it's crazy... today my reader picked up p0420, which is horrible... my truck stalled while I was making a turn on to 95. I don t know how to drive a Manuel, I know this truck has that function but I have no clue on how it works... I feel like I made the biggest mistake ever buying this truck..

I have 2008 Tahoe hybrid too. Did you resolve your cars problems? Mine was rinning great when I bought it 2yrs ago, but now has stalling problems. I can't find a good reliable Hybrid mechanic to trust... any advice??

No it gets better only to get worse. Now it stalls when Im in the middle of the road and it's shaking up front. Im in Florida and I haven't been able to find a good mechanic. I think it's something to do with the fuel filter/pump.. something along those lines. If you figure it out please let me know.

I did a diagnostic on it and te code p0ac4 came up. Which was the powertrain control module. What could be the problem and wat can I do about It.

The P0AC4 is just a diagnosis code, it is usually combine with another code. Do you have another code? have you tried clearing the code and try starting?

I have a 2008 tahoe Hybrid, it went dead. we took it to a dealeship, they told us that we need a new battery and the DC control inverter. they priced at $8500 dollars. we owed $7000 on the truck. so there is no way I was about to spent $15,800 on a truck that cost $13000. any way we got the battery with a 5 years warranty for $2450 and the dc control inverter from ebay with 6 months warranty. but because the dc control inverter is from another truck gm says that the cannot program the inverter. that i need to buy the $4500 they sell! there is anyway to program the one I got? or we are really screw ? Any help will be appreciate it. Thank you.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, the dealer is correct, you can't reprogram the inverter from another vehicle.

My 2008 chevy tahoe hybrid is reading codes p0ac4,p0c0e, and p0ac4. I dont know whats wrong it seems to be fine but ramdomly stalls and read "service power steering" and "service hybrid system" but then it turns back on but check engine light is now on

The P0AC4 code is an information code only, you should work on the P0C0E code instead. The P0C0E code suggest starting by reprogram the Power Inverter Module (PIM), and if the problem persists, then you may have to replace the PIM Assembly.

This is my first post so before I get into all my problems, thank you in advance for any help I get! I do not know much about cars but would like to try and fix it with your help. Truly appreciated!
I purchased a 2010 Hybrid Tahoe from my grandparents. I have had it 6 months and worked on it non stop. The Tahoe first was stalling and dying because the throttle body was dirty ( I forget what the dashboard was saying) I cleaned the throttle body and it ran fine for a month or so. Then the problem came back. I figured it was the same problem again so I recently replaced the throttle body and sensor with a new one a week ago. Nothing changed. When I come to a stop and the car goes from motor (gas) down to electric it dies completely. Not to the "engine stop" I mean completely dead. I have to put in park, turn the ignition off and then turn it over again. It will always start back up and let me drive off. Dash board says "service hybrid system" I have read previous threads and everyone says codes are key. I was able to use my buddy's code reader ( not sure how fancy it is) and these are the codes:
P0AC4 (Generic)- Hybrid powertrain control module requested MIL Illumination P0056 (generic) H025 Heater Control Circuit (Bank 2, sensor 2) P0161 (generic) 02 Heater Circuit (bank 2, sensor 2) P0060 (generic) H025 Heater Resistance (bank 2, sensor 2)
I should mention a week before the grandparents sold it to me, they had a company professionally replace the hybrid batteries. ($3,000) and put a new $300 deep cell battery in it as well. The battery cables are tight. They have the quick release lever on the top of the cables to lock around the battery terminal. I am trying to give you all the information I have. Like I said, I barely know what I'm doing but am not afraid to try. I do have a appointment set up for Monday 10/11/21 at my local Chevy Dealership and will give an update to what they say. Again thank you for reading all this and your help.

I hope they found the problem tomorrow. The P0AC4 code doesn't specify what the problem is, it just means that there is a problem with the Hybrid System. All the other codes are for the O2 sensor, but a failure with the O2 sensor should not cause the engine to stop.
Looks like the Hybrid System needs further diagnosis.

I have a Chevy Malibu and I just got this code. A mechanic told me that my PCM needed to be reprogrammed for replaced. So I take it to the dealership and they tell me I need a new engine. My mechanic was beyond upset, he said my engine was fine and to get a 2nd opinion. The car is a 2013 with 103000 miles on it.

I agree with your mechanic, you should take your vehicle to another dealer. I have never seen anyone changing the engine for a P0AC4 code.
