hi  i had a diagnostic check on my 2003 honda accord ex 6cyl. they told me  the torque converter soleniod circuit performance or stuck off.  problem is when you're driving the car like neutralize &the rpm goes up but the car not going any faster & when you ease off the excelerator it kick in and it takes off & run alright for a while and repeats the problem again. the diagnostic code  was p0741. what are we talking about parts & labor

The estimate to replaced the solenoid depends on the shop, but before replacing the solenoid you should try changing the fluid first.

which solenoid? I'd be happy to fix it...b/c its out of my van on the ground...but i'm not sure which solenoid to change.

What model and year is your Honda? location is different for each model.

I should be very clear...my trans was rebuilt 3.5 years ago. Torque converter was replaced at that time. It shifts fine and drives fine but throws a p0741 and sometimes...not often, the 'D' light blinks. This all started when I used the wrong trans fluid in my transmission. The code and the light are far less frequent as I've done 3 trans fluid changes over the last 90 days. The color of the fluid is normal (as is the smell) and I do not get any shavings or anything in it.

The problem is with the transmission, but you don't have to get a new transmission. You should have a transmission specialist inspect the transmission, they may be able to replace the failed part and not the entire transmission.

Hello, I have a 2004 Honda Accord EX 6cyl. When I drove about 2~4 miles, the car like neutralize. You must stop the car and restart. the fluid changed, the problem remains. My engine light wasnot on, we had a diagnostic code P0741. I was told I have to get a new transmission.

Based on just the P0741 code you can't diagnose the problem as a bad transmission. There are some test that need to perform to determine exactly what the problem is. Since you have already change the transmission fluid and due to the age of your vehicle, the chances that the transmission is the problem are very high.

Unfortunately there is no much you can do, you have to have a transmission shop perform pressure test with special tools. You could remove the transmission pan and check if there are debris on the pan. metal derbies on the pan means that parts of the transmission is coming apart.

What model and year is your vehicle? The code means that you may have a Faulty torque converter clutch solenoid valve.

First make sure the transmission fluid is clean and the level is OK. If the fluid level is OK and the problem persist, then you may need to replace the "Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Valve"

2007 Honda Pilot EX 3.5L 4WD. Random CEL with P0741 code. No symptoms at all. Shifts fine and never a hint of transmission problems. Changed ATF w Honda fluids at rec intervals. Pulled top linear and dual solenoids and checked filters. Clean. Changed ATF again. No debris just fine silt on magnet plug. Cleared code and CEL. CEL comes back on with code again at approx 150-350 miles. Still no symptoms. Suggestions? Thank you.

I checked a national database of repairs for your model year, and the most common problem that will trigger the P0741 code is the solenoid pack.

Unfortunately I don't have the part number, any auto parts store should be able to get you the number.

This vehicle has a single linear solenoid and a dual linear solenoid on top of the trans. It also has two different sets of shift solenoids A & B. Your diagram appears to be shift solenoid A or B. I don't know if A or B effects torque shift control. Also don't know location of these solenoids on trans case.

The cost depends on what the exact problem is. Your best option is to have a transmission shop diagnose the problem. The problem range from a $200 for a solenoid to a complete transmission.

hi have Honda Ody 2008 with the miles of 176K. and having P0741 warring. can i drive it 1000 mile journey with it , or required fix this first . please suggest , i have to travel to go home town on it. for now the drive is OK. the transmission shop check it and says, the outer things are working fine. it might be some thing in internal, so we have to open the transmission and check it.
and no one recommend to change the oil ? what will be the issue ,when i will change the oil.

I agree with the transmission shop. Unfortunately there are some test that needs to be done in order to properly diagnose the transmission. The easiest thing you can do is drain transmission fluid through a strainer. If metal debris or excessive clutch material, then you may have a faulty transmission.
Besides the code, do you have any other symptoms?

I was getting the code P0741 or I should say my son was. He was traveling back from Kentucky last weekend and the D started flashing. After he stopped for a while it stopped flashing. After driving for another hour it started again. He noticed that it was shifting as normal but the D was flashing. I picked the van up the next day and all has been well since then. It drives normal and no flashing. I talked to my mechanic today and he figured that the solenoid may have over heated due to the up and down hills and changing speeds. We cleared the code and I was told to drive it as normal and if it codes again bring it back to them. The transmission is about 2 1/2 years olld. It is a used one put in by the Honda dealer where I bought it. It had 68K miles on it at the time. About five months ago I brought it to my mechanic due to a noise when I started it. It was found that the torque converter screws were loose and wrecked the converter. My mechanic put a new TC in and has been running fine till the flashing D. All is well right now. My van is a 2009.

When I turn off the on the car, it run alright for a while then repeat the problem again.
I change the fluid, clean the debris on the pan. onlu the check engine light turn on.

Unfortunately I haven't had that problem before, but according to a national database of repairs for your model year, the most likely cause of the problem is the Pressure Control Solenoid Valves.

Hello. I has replace this pressure control but the problem still the same. I check the pan and detect some debris. I changed the transmission with used one with 61k miles..
The transmission working normally but after driving for more the 35km D start flushing. Turn off the turn on the car the d stop flushing...
I cheked The oil of the transmission and detectvthat the necanicien put more then the normal. ( maybe more than 1 kilo).
Is this the problem??
On scanner 2 code deteted :
1) 26-04(p0848) 3rd pressure sw circuit high
2) 40-03(p0741) TC clutch stuck off

I have a 2005 Honda Element 2.4 VTech and I got a P0741 code. My scanner brings up that the TCC solenoid is stuck OFF but I can't figure out where it is. Usually these solenoids are on the outside but I'm having absolutely no luck finding it.

The TCC Solenoid is also called Shift Solenoid Valve E and it's attached to the transmission valve body. You can access the solenoid by removing the transmission side code.
