I had the p052a on my 2012 focus. Found the car was really low on oil. I honestly do not know why it was low. I change the oil every 5000. No indications of an external leak. First, I changed the oil, hoping that would turn the check engine off. It did not. The crankshaft position sensors are easily accessible. I removed and cleaned them. Still had CEL. To access VCT solenoids, must remove cam cover. There are 2 - on top left side, next to first spark plug. I bought new gasket kit. Removed cover (several videos available). Removed solenoids; sprayed with brake clean and compressed air a few times. Reassembled, held brake and gas pedal to floor until reset complete. CEL is gone!! Hopefully for good.
