The cooling fan is coming on. It actually blows very well. Unfortunately, we don't know how to disconnect the battery and we are taking a road trip in 6hrs to Tyler from San Antonio. We are very nervous. This all started because our 2007 Chevy Trailblazer low beam headlamps went out. After researching online we discovered that if you switch relay 45 (cooling fan) with relay 46 (headlamp relay) and the lights come on that it's a faulty headlamp relay. After doing this (our headlamps came on) & we replaced the headlamp relay and right away, the CEL came on. Then we ran a diagnostic and it said 0480 and we replaced the cooling fan relay as well and now we still get the 0480. But the fan was going much slower before replacing the cooling relay. Our trip is about 315 miles each way. Should we be concerned?

Had a Check Engine Light (MIL) on forever and was getting this P0480 code but couldn't figure out why it wouldn't clear after changing the Engine Cooling Fan "Relay". After checking ALL of the fuses in the Underhood Fuse Block, I found that the problem was the mini fuse (25) for the (Circuit Relay) FAN CONT #1 was blown/shorted out. After replacing the fuse everything worked just fine. I had to use a diagnostic tool to clear the code but once doing so the Check Engine Light (MIL) stayed off.

We have a 2004 and after my husband changed the radiator we have a loud noise (sounds like a transfer truck) so he thought that the fan was going out so he changed the fan but the noise is still there. But after you drive it about 15 minutes it quits. Has anyone ever had this happen?
