Code P0447 2008 Nissan Altima Sedan Description

The P0447 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) in a 2008 Nissan Altima Sedan indicates a problem with the Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit. This system is responsible for controlling the release of fuel vapors from the fuel tank into the atmosphere. The vent control circuit is designed to open and close as needed to regulate the flow of vapors. When the circuit is open when it should be closed, it can lead to fuel vapors escaping into the atmosphere, causing environmental pollution and potentially affecting the vehicle's performance.

  1. Check Engine Light: The most common symptom associated with this code is the illumination of the Check Engine Light on the vehicle's dashboard.
  2. Fuel Smell: A noticeable smell of fuel vapors inside or outside the vehicle may indicate a problem with the evaporative emission control system.
  3. Rough Idle: If the vent control circuit is not functioning properly, it can lead to a rough idle or stalling of the engine.
  4. Failed Emissions Test: A malfunction in the evaporative emission control system can cause the vehicle to fail emissions tests due to increased emissions.

How to Fix P0447 2008 Nissan Altima Sedan

  1. Diagnostic Testing: Begin by using a diagnostic scanner to retrieve the trouble codes and pinpoint the issue with the evaporative emission control system vent control circuit.
  2. Inspect Vent Control Solenoid: Check the vent control solenoid for proper operation and replace it if it is found to be faulty.
  3. Check Wiring Connections: Inspect the wiring connections in the evaporative emission control system for any damage or corrosion and repair or replace as necessary.
  4. Test Hoses: Check all hoses in the system for cracks, leaks, or disconnections and replace any damaged hoses.
  5. Clear Codes: After completing the repairs, clear the trouble codes from the vehicle's PCM and perform a test drive to ensure that the issue has been resolved.

Discuss the causes and fixes for P0447 2008 Nissan Altima Sedan OBDII Code

  • Ok this is the only thread I've found with a clear picture of my problem, I have a 3.5L engine version above picture number 1 canister vent control valve Who is C is off of the vehicle and I don't know where to send it or what it does but from everything I've read so far it's making my car and I ran and I don't know where to send this hose does anybody know what I'm talking about

  • That C hose goes to the Drain filter. You can actually leave it disconnected, but if is disconnected from the filter, water or debris can get int the tube.
If it's already disconnected, and its triggering the P0447 code, check if there is debris inside, clean the hose and reconnect to the Vent Control Valve (1)

  • I have a po445 code. This indicates leaking. I see no holes and have put fog in the line from the evap inlet in the engine room

  • If you have no leaks, then you may have to replace the Canister Vent Control Valve.
