Code P0446. Changed the purge valve and cleared the code but after a few minutes of driving the CEL comes back on. Then I squirted WD-40 around the flapper in the fuel fill orifice and let that soak. I also used a paper towel and WD 40 to wipe clean the rubber gasket seals on the swing open gas fill access door and the recess in the body work. Cleared the code and a few minutes later the CEL lights up again. What am I missing?. 2013 Ford Taurus with 3.5 V-6. No particular event happened to cause the CEL to come on the first time. It had been a few days since filling the tank and it was approx. 3/4 filled when light came on while driving. Any thoughts what I need to check next? The Taurus has 55,000 miles on it.Never a hiccup before.

Finally took it in to the Ford dealer and they ran system diagnostics. Said all indications were pointing to wiring harness on top of gas tank. So they dropped the exhaust system and pulled the gas tank and found a mouse nest on top of the tank with all wiring chewed apart except for the fuel pump. They took me back and showed me the carnage. Little bastards cost me over $800,
