It's complicated. Turns out the cat failed new out of the box. So I didn't need the up flow sensor ($160). But the downflow was bad ($65) and the original cat was rotted ($300). So prices weren't bad. But, after giving up, it was $400 for diagnosis and r&r of the defective cat. NOT happy that Rock Auto wouldn't cover the shipping charges for returning the defective cat

I had a VW tiguan 2016 S after I change catalytic converter it showed me P0420 so I took out both sensor and cleaned them and installed them no more fault code. I will come back if it shows me a check engine again.
