P0340 Mazda Code - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

How do I fix it?

What mode and year is your Mazda? You may have to replace the camshaft position sensor to fix the problem.

I have an Mazda tribute 2005 the check engine is on. Coils have been replaced, cam sensor and starter have been change. The vehicle starts good and is'nt misfiring or stalls, to me sounds good but the check engine is still on. Based on the scanner it has code P0340 Camshaft position sensor A circuit (bank 1 or single sensor) and like Ihave said the cam sensor has been replace but can't fix or the check engine doesn't turn off. What could be the cause?

Do you have 2.3L or 3.0L engine? Did you use a factory camshaft position sensor?

Start by checking the engine timing, wrong timing could cause the P0340 code

its a 2.3L engine. well the engines starts good sounds good drives good up to now but like i said the engine light is still on. In reference to the sensor, I doubt it's a factory sensor since it was purchase at part store and the technician said parts for ford works well on mazda...

Where is the camshaft position sensor on a 2003 Mazda 6s? Engine size is 3.0

Where exactly is the camshaft sensor located on a 2000 Mazda millennia 2.3l? It's throwing p1345 code and I don't want to be digging in the wrong spot cause it looks to be painful

2003 Mazda 6 2.3L coughs and sputters and won't idle smoothly on cold start, sometimes dies. After 3 to 5 minutes it's perfectly fine, no loss of power or any other symptoms. Replaced cam position sensor twice. Timing is correct. Cleared all codes multiple times and p0340 always comes back. Any ideas?

I never had that problem before, but from a national database of repair for your model, year and the P0340 code here are the most likely cause of the problem. If the timing is correct, the the next according to the list below is to replace the crankshaft position sensor. I hope that helps

2005 Mazda 6, 2.3L 4 cylinder
Engine light comes on periodically for past month always showing code P0340, I've had the camshaft position sensor replaced, light came on throwing same codes, upon further inspection found timing was off by 2 teeth. Took car to Mazda dealer had valve cover replaced, oil changed, had timing chain reset and had camshaft position sensor replaced for the second time.
Engine light came on again tonight throwing same code now a month and about $1200 later. Any ideas?

Unfortunately I never had that problem before. I check a national database of repairs for the same problem and model year, and besides the Camshaft Position Sensor, the second most common problem for the P0340 code is the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Out of 68 reported vehicles with the P0340 code, 60 times the Camshaft position Sensor fixed the problem and the rest the the Crankshaft Position Sensor. I hope that helps.
