  • 2006 ford explorer... just had spring valve replaced on cylinder 2 .. drove great for a week then engine code p0302 popped up. replaced plug wires and coil pack. What to do next?

  • When I took it back up mechanic said he did a compression test on all cylinders and all read 0% except cylinder 2 it read 1% which he said that's good. It's really frustrating.

    misfire only on idle causing fault to occur while waiting in traffic. If the idle was lifted by as little as 50rpm it wouldn't be happening

  • Probably not, the misfire is because something is happening with cylinder #2. You could start by changing the spark plugs. You could also try adding some fuel additive/clenaer, in case the #2 fuel injector is clogged.

  • 2014 5.8L keep getting a P0302 code. Engine knocks only under load, and have ruled out bad gas. I changed the spark plug and the coil, still comes on. Any Ideas?

  • 2010 Ford ranger xlt 2.3 ... Got the P0302 code and it was misfiring pretty badly so I changed the sparkplugs and wires but still same thing so I changed the fuel filter and put sea foam in the fuel and it got a lot better but it didn't solve it yet so I took the injectors out and I opened the coils with short pieces of wire on the battery and tried cleaning them with carburetor cleaner but it still misfires a bit between idle and around 2000 rpm... the worst is when the engine is cold in the morning...
    Anybody have some advice for me on what it could be?

  • Do you have spark at the spark plug #2? If you do have a spark, then the problem could be a fuel injector, the head gasket, or the intake manifold gasket. I recommend first check for spark, if you do have a spark, the next step is to perform a compression test to check if the problem is one of the gaskets.
