had a recent tune up on my 97 Cirrus LXi 2.5L. what happens when car has not run for 8-12 hours. Seems like car will die but restart right away. Feels like it runs out of fuel, sputters, misfires, dies but after about 10 minutes of this it finely starts running normally. Idle seems to fluxuate though at stops. not extreme but few 100 rpms up/down sometimes. WHY? had a ECM problem before tune up where emissions could not be checked because data was not being saved? could not get codes if ecm was not working right? this has been an issue. tried to buy replacement ecm/ecu, 3 from a company but none of them would start the car but the old one still did. Stopped trying to replace it, got tune up and all was well for about 1 month then this starts. runs rough when cold, dies, sputters like no fuel but starts after dying? after 10 minutes of rough running, it stablizes and runs normal? after one of these espisodes, the P0171 showed up? no codes before this after tune up until yesterday. have had a new distributor and other work over the last year as well. 150K miles. could the fuel pump or filter have trouble to cause this, or could it be PCV, MAF, O2? i hate taking it to my mechanic because he has done so much work already he is getting tired of seeing me.
