The problem is the valve cover is letting oil get to the spark plugs.And it causing a misfireMine was doing the samething.Put new coils,4 of them,and bought a new valve cover gasket.I just made the bolts tight on the valve cover they were loose.Don't have to change the gasket yet.Made the bolts tight and it sealed.My car is running good again.

Hi on these 2000 Toyota Echo cars the top radiator gets sucked shut while you are driving the car,and the motor does not get enough coolant.It will cause the head gasket to overheat and leak coolant to the spark plugs.and it will cause the valve cover gasket to shrink and leak.Change the top radiator hose,if all radiator hoses are old change them all,if not just the top one.To repair it get a can of Carb cleaner and spray the end of the spark plugs and clean them.Change the valve cover gasket for about three weeks check the bolts for being tight.Don't over tighten them.And third get bottle of BARS head gasket leak repair about $33.00 at AutoZone ,drain enough coolant out of the radiator to put about 1/2 bottle in.Read on the bottle and do exactly what it reads to do.I took a Turkey baster and took off the radiator cap and sucked enough coolant out to put the BARS head gasket sealer in. T6his will make your Toyota Echo run like new again.
