  • My battery on my 2009 Hyundai Sonata 2.2L 4 cylinder needed a jump. The jump was handled and battery, started and charging system test were performed. The test were normal with the battery excepted as it showed it needed replaced. I drove to my next destination and again the car would not start. This time the person jumping the battery put the cables on wrong. The battery terminals and cables smoked profusely and were left on for a good minute. The car continued to run and now the engine light came on. I have since replaced the battery and had a computer read out for the engine light which now shows P0106 MAP Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. I will have to price these and get a mechanic to replace it. I am hoping this is all that it needs. My radio, a/c and everything is operating with no changes.

  • This vehicle has been infamous for this problem. Any loss of battery power or disconnection of terminals that connect on the rear of the air filter box will result in P0106 MAP sensor code. I fixed the problem by just continue to drive for about 40-60 miles, and computer will resolve code it self. I have had this problem in the past and took unnecessary steps to resolve, when patience was the necessary action. In past I purchased new MAP sensor (non returnable item - electrical component), without resolve. So be patience, and if computer does not reset check engine light after 70 miles, I would take into dealer to have code reset and adaptive configurations looked at. Diagnostic fee at Hyundai dealers usually runs about $100.00, if car is out of warranty. Dealer will put diagnostic fee towards repairs, if needed.

  • I just got the P0106 code. I have a 2010 Hyundai Sonata V4. I bought a new MAP sensor. I disconnected the battery and swapped out the bad MAP. Installed a new MAP Sensor. Less than a couple miles later, the check engine light came on. I cleared the code with my TorquePro but the light keeps turning back on but as a "grey code." Im confused.

  • Here is the story. My wifes battery died. So I did a trickle charge. Light came on. Took the car to AutoZone and had the codes read. Disconnected the battery and replaced with new MAP Sensor. Light came back on. With that said, did I buy a new MAP Sensor for no reason?

  • Well I replace the map sensor with a new one and the light had turned on for a while. But after driving for about 20 to 50 miles the light turned off and I haven't had a problem ever since.

  • I work at a Hyundai dealership. most of the time with the 4 cylinder throwing a p0106, weve found vehicle has oil contamination in intake manifold from a defective valve cover assembly. pvc baffling defective internally causing oil to be sucked into intake manifold. replace valve cover assembly and will be fixed.
