2006 TDI Beetle stalled without warning, no light, no ding, just shut off and wouldn't start. Mechanic replaced the mass air flow sensor. Vehicle starts and runs perfectly but the check engine soon light is on. Mechanic has tried 4 different MAF sensors but the light keeps coming on..code p0101. Any ideas? He also replaced some burnt wires to or around the sensor.

Hello, I had and still have the 00257 p0101 000 error code on my skoda octavia 2.0 tdi, 140 hp (mass or volume air flow circuit range performance static), the skoda dealer/mechanic said that for sure there is a flaw on ore of the hoses (a strange sound like some air is leaking can be heard while accelerating); before the above presented error, firstly appeared the 08825 p2279 (leak in intake air system); both the "spiral"=glow plug light and engine light are present on my cluster.
I had to drive from sea-side back home approx. 900 km with max 95-100 KM/h, as the car (I suppose) entered in protection mode, due to the above mentioned errors. Very inconvenient on the highway, even some trucks were overtaking me :P.
