  • I have a saturn aura xr 3.6 v6 with the codes p0014 and p0017.Im curious if the timing percentage at idle should be stationary.My scanner shows movement between 2.5% and 7.6%. Its my understanding the actuators should be locked in position at 0% until a certain oil pressure,rpm rise.

  • It's normal for the timing change, it wont stay at a lock position.
    For the codes you have the most common cause of the problem is a loos timing chain or timing chain tensioner. If the chain is OK, then you may have to replace the Variable Valve Timing Control Solenoid
