B1263 - Panel/Defrost Actuator Failure
B1263 Possible Causes
- Faulty Panel/Defrost Actuator
- Panel/Defrost Actuator harness is open or shorted
- Panel/Defrost Actuator circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) Module
How do I fix code B1263?Check the "Possible Causes" listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector's pins.
Cost of diagnosing the B1263 code
Labor: 1.0The cost of diagnosing the B1263 code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair labor rates vary widely across the country, and even within the same city. Most auto repairs shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
B1263 MeaningUnder normal operation, the panel/defrost and floor door actuator motors are supplied voltage or ground through the circuit, depending on desired actuator rotation, by the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) module. The EATC module then supplies the appropriate voltage or ground to the other side of the actuator motor. The panel/defrost and floor door actuator feedback resistors are supplied a ground and a 5-volt reference voltage from the EATC module. The EATC module reads the voltage on the circuit to determine the actuator position by the position of the actuator feedback resistor wiper arm.
