Code B0084:0F Description
The B0084:0F code indicates an erratic signal from the right front impact sensor in the vehicle's safety system. Impact sensors are crucial components that detect collisions or accidents and trigger the deployment of airbags to protect occupants. When the right front impact sensor is sending erratic signals, it means that the sensor may not accurately detect impacts or may trigger airbag deployment when it is not necessary. This can pose a significant safety risk to the vehicle's occupants as the airbags may not deploy when needed or deploy unexpectedly, causing potential injuries.
Common Causes of B0084:0F
- Damaged wiring or connectors leading to the right front impact sensor
- Faulty right front impact sensor
- Corrosion or debris affecting sensor operation
- Malfunctioning airbag control module
- Impact or collision damaging the sensor or wiring
Symptoms of B0084:0F
- Airbag warning light illuminated on the dashboard
- Inconsistent airbag deployment in accidents
- Erratic behavior of other safety systems
- Diagnostic trouble codes related to the airbag system
How to Fix B0084:0F
- Begin by diagnosing the root cause of the erratic signal from the right front impact sensor using a diagnostic scanner to read the trouble codes and pinpoint the issue.
- Inspect the wiring and connectors leading to the right front impact sensor for any damage or corrosion. Repair or replace as necessary.
- Test the right front impact sensor for proper operation and replace it if it is found to be faulty.
- Check the airbag control module for any malfunctions and replace if needed.
- Clear the diagnostic trouble codes from the system and perform a test to ensure that the right front impact sensor is now functioning correctly.
Cost to Fix B0084:0F
The cost of repairing a right front impact sensor erratic issue can vary depending on the specific cause of the problem and the make and model of the vehicle. Precautions for SRS “AIR BAG” and “SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER” Service
- Never probe the electrical connectors on air bag, side air curtain modules or seat belts.
- Never disassemble or tamper with safety belt buckle/retractor pretensioners, adaptive load limiting retractors, safety belt inflators, or probe the electrical connectors.
- Do not use electrical test equipment to check SRS circuits unless instructed to in this Service Manual.
- Before servicing the SRS, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery cables and wait at least 3 minutes. For approximately 3 minutes after the cables are removed, it is still possible for the air bag and seat belt pre-tensioner to deploy. Therefore, do not work on any SRS connectors or wires until at least 3 minutes have passed.
Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of these modules, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
