Code B0057 Description
The B0057 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates that there is a low resistance in the right front passenger pretensioner deployment loop. The pretensioner is a safety feature in modern vehicles that tightens the seatbelt in the event of a collision, reducing the forward movement of the occupant and minimizing the risk of injury. The deployment loop is an integral part of the pretensioner system, and a low resistance in this loop can prevent the pretensioner from functioning properly during a crash.

- Audible warning chimes indicating a problem with the airbag system.
- Diagnostic trouble code B0057 stored in the vehicle's computer system.
How to Fix B0057
- Begin by diagnosing the specific cause of the low resistance in the right front passenger pretensioner deployment loop using a scan tool to retrieve the DTC and inspecting the pretensioner system components.
- Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors in the deployment loop.
- Check and secure any loose connections in the pretensioner system.
- Replace the faulty right front passenger pretensioner if necessary.

Precautions for SRS “AIR BAG” and “SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER” Service
- Never probe the electrical connectors on air bag, side air curtain modules or seat belts.
- Never disassemble or tamper with safety belt buckle/retractor pretensioners, adaptive load limiting retractors, safety belt inflators, or probe the electrical connectors.
- Do not use electrical test equipment to check SRS circuits unless instructed to in this Service Manual.
- Before servicing the SRS, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery cables and wait at least 3 minutes. For approximately 3 minutes after the cables are removed, it is still possible for the air bag and seat belt pre-tensioner to deploy. Therefore, do not work on any SRS connectors or wires until at least 3 minutes have passed.
Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of these modules, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
