C1163 NISSAN - Steering Angle Sensor Safe Mode
- Adjust steering angle sensor neutral position
The C1163 code is usually triggered when the vehicle is out of alignment or after performing a wheel alignment. After performing a wheel alignment the "Steering Angle Sensor" needs to be reset. Some wheel alignment machines are capable to reset the sensor after the alignment, otherwise an special OBDII scanner (with access to the ABS system) needs to be used to reset the sensor.

The steering angle sensor detects the rotation amount, angular velocity and direction of the steering wheel, and transmits the data to the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) via Control Area Network (CAN) communication.
