The cost to diagnose the B2586 code is 1.0 hour of labor. The diagnosis time and labor rates at auto repair shops vary depending on the location, make and model of the vehicle, and even the engine type. Most auto repair shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.
The Smart Junction Box (SJB) monitors the multifunction switch positions by sending out voltage reference signals to the multifunction switch through circuits. The return signal is sent through the circuit. When the multifunction switch is in the high beam position, the SJB provides a ground for the high beam relay coil (which is supplied battery voltage) through circuit. When the high beam relay is energized, power is routed to circuits from the BEC. The circuits supply power to the RH and LH high beams respectively. If a problem is detected with the circuits to the multifunction switch, the SJB will not provide a ground source for the high beam relay.
